Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed that the United States government has no authority to interfere with Iran’s foreign policy, marking a significant reminder of the longstanding tensions between the two nations. Posting on social media platform X on Sunday, Araghchi emphasized that the 1979 Islamic Revolution effectively ended the era of US influence over Iran’s external affairs, which had been characterized by the overthrow of the US-backed Pahlavi regime.
“The United States government has no authority, or business, dictating Iranian foreign policy. That era ended in 1979,” Araghchi asserted, reaffirming Iran’s sovereignty in geopolitical matters.

His remarks came amid rising tensions over US support for ‘Israel’, particularly in light of the ongoing aggression in Gaza. Araghchi condemned the US’s financial backing of ‘Israel’, accusing it of enabling what he described as “terrorism and genocide.” He pointed to a staggering $23 billion in aid that has flowed to ‘Israel’ under the Biden administration, asserting that this support correlates with the deaths of over 60,000 Palestinians.
“Biden was last year bamboozled into handing over unprecedented funds to a genocidal regime,” Araghchi remarked, as he called for US leaders to cease their support for ‘Israel’ and to end aggression against Yemen, which has also suffered greatly in the ongoing conflict.

In a parallel development, former US President Donald Trump responded to the situation by demanding an immediate end to Iran’s support for Yemen’s Anasarullah movement, labeling them as “Houthi terrorists.” Trump, who recently ordered airstrikes against Yemen, underscored that the US would hold Iran “fully accountable” for any repercussions stemming from the support of the Houthis, an assertion that has further escalated regional tensions.
Yemen has escalated its military operations in response to Israel’s actions, launching over 100 attacks on Israeli-bound ships in recent months. This aggressive posture has strained US military resources, as American forces scramble to intercept missiles and drones aimed at ‘Israel’.
