Lebanon is preparing to enter the second phase of reopening plan approved by the government earlier this month, with coronavirus figures remaining steady following a 6-week full lockdown aimed at curbing the spread of the contagious disease.
Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced on Sunday that the country has registered 43 coronavirus deaths and 1,685 new infections in the last 24 hours.
In its daily report, the ministry said 1,682 new infections were recorded among local residents, while the other 3 cases were imported, raising the total infections nationwide since February to 355,056.
43 new fatalities were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 4,340, the ministry stated.
13,197 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, including 2,497 at Beirut International Airport, according to the report.
2,206 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours, including 935 at the ICU rooms with 309 of them are on ventilators, the report added.
Reopening Plan
Lebanon is going to enter on Monday (February 22nd), the second stage of the reopening plan, with several businesses and services will be allowed to operate.
These services include auto repair shops, car dealerships, car wash facilities, laundry services, flower shops, travel agencies and others.
This phase will extend until March 8th, according to the plan approved by the government’s ministerial committee tasked with following up the pandemic in the country.
