Hezbollah condemned on Saturday sanctions imposed by European Union against Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Mekdad.
In a statement, Hezbollah’s Media Relations voiced solidarity with the Syrian diplomat.
“EU proceeds its hostile policy towards Syria and its legitimate government and struggling people, targeting Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad who exerts remarkable efforts to explain Syria’s stance before international avenues and to defend his country as well as its interests and sovereign decision.”
“As Hezbollah denounces EU sanctions, he regrets adopting policy of hostility and destabilization,” the statement added.
Hezbollah, meanwhile, lashed out at the EU for covering terrorist groups and offering them different kinds of support.
“Instead of opening channels of dialogue through the Syrian foreign ministry, the EU imposes sanctions on the FM in the legitimate government in Damascus,” Hezbollah stated.
The Resistance movement voiced solidarity with Mekdad, praising his efforts “to serve the Syrian people throughout years and in different conditions.”
