Caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan told Al-Manar on Monday that Lebanon has entered a new dangerous phase of the battle against coronavirus.
He noted that new developments have been reported regarding the number of infections, noting that those developments are dangerous.
“The number of infection has reached a dangerous phase. Hospitals’ occupancy can no more handle the issue,” Hasan told Al-Manar.
“The most dangerous today is that fatalities have been recorded among middle-aged patient,” the minister said.
“Recording 1,600 and 1,700 cases per day means that the real infection rate could be multiplied by five,” Hasan warned.
“The situation requires the Lebanese society to act responsibly and in a different way than before,” the minister said, noting that the partial lockdown was ineffective.
He said that he has recommended a four-week full lockdown with tightened measures.
