Lebanese President Michel Aoun stressed Thursday that government is taking appropriate measures in a bid to contain the spread of novel coronavirus.
In remarks while meeting UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon, Jan Kubic at Baabda Palace, President Aoun stressed importance of precautionary measures taken to confront COVID-19, term referring to the deadly virus which firstly appeared in China in December 2019.
The Lebanese president, meanwhile, welcomed aids that could be offered to Beirut as part of international efforts to contain the virus which has killed so far more than 4,000 people worldwide.
He added that the Government is working at rapid pace to implement the reform plan which deals with debt and banking restructuring, financial and administrative reform, in addition to the social and economic plan.
President Aoun also pointed to the start of work to implement the electricity plan, and a series of measures, to put the economic promotion plan into practice.
Kubic presented the ongoing preparations for the Security Council’s meeting, to tackle latest Lebanese developments, by discussing the implementation report of Resolution 1701, National News Agency reported.
