Lebanese Army arrested on Wednesday Mustafa Hujeiri, known as “Abu Taqiyyeh” in a dawn raid in Arsal, after going on rum for nearly three months.
The Lebanese Army announced the move early on Wednesday in a statement released by the Directorate of Orientation.
“Following search and pursue, a force of Intelligence Directorate arrested Mustafa Hueiri, known as Abu Taqiyyeh at dawn in Arsal,” the statement said, adding that investigations with Hujeiri has started.
Hujeiri has been on the run since September, when his son confessed that his father was involved in clashes between the Lebanese Army and Takfiri groups in 2014.
The Arsal-based “Sheikh” has played major role in supporting militants belonging to Nusra Front before and after the 2014 battle with the army, according to confessions by his son, Abada.
Abada Huejeiri was arrested earlier this year, following battles launched by Lebanese Army and Hezbollah against Takfiri aimed at liberating border areas with Syria from Takfiri terrorists of Nusra Front and ISIL, including Arsal outskirts, Ras Baalbek outskirts, and Qaa outskirts.
