Russia’s representatives in the Russian-Turkish commission on the Syrian truce have registered eight violations of the ceasefire regime during the past 24 hours, mainly in the Syrian provinces of Damascus and Aleppo, the country’s Defense Ministry said Tuesday.
Situation in the de-escalation zones is assessed as stable. Within last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 8 cases of firing in provinces of Damascus (2), Aleppo (5), Daraa (1). The Turkish party has registered 4 cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Damascus (2) and Homs (2),” the ministry said in a daily bulletin.
The number of settlements, which joined the ceasefire, has increased to 2,095, according to the bulletin.
“Within last 24 hours, 13 ceasefire agreements have been signed with representatives of inhabited areas of Aleppo (6) and Idlib (7) provinces. Total number of inhabited areas, the leaders of which had signed reconciliation agreements is 2,095,” the bulletin said.
The Russian military has also brought humanitarian aid to 2,291 people, while a total number of humanitarian events, carried out by Russia in Syria, reached 1,561.
“Within last 24 hours, the Russian Center for reconciliation of opposing sides held 6 humanitarian actions in the province of Aleppo. Civilians received 7.3 tons of food products… In the course of the humanitarian actions, Russian military physicians provided medical assistance to 222 people,” the ministry noted.
The Middle Eastern nation has been hit by the civil war since 2011, after protests of the Arab Spring turned violent. A number of countries, including Russia, have been taking steps aimed at the de-escalation of tensions in Syria and at the settlement of the crisis. Moscow has also supported Syrians with humanitarian aid.
