Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri called on Parliament to convene on Friday to discuss the new electoral law.
National news agency reported the parliamentary session is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. (Beirut timing) on Friday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Lebanese government referred the new vote law to the parliament, paving the way for elections in May 2018.
The cabinet also approved a technical extension of the House of Parliament’s mandate until May 21, 2018.
According to the law, Lebanon will be divided into 15 electoral districts based on a proportional voting system.
The government also set May 6, 2018 a date for the coming parliamentary elections.
