Syrian army and allies were steadily progressing in Al-Badiyah desert near the border with Iraq, military source said.
Hezbollah Military Media Center, citing Syrian military source, said that the allied forces liberated the strategic Arak triangle and several overlooking hills in Palmyra eastern countryside from ISIL Takfiri terrorists.
The source added that the Syrian army and its allies thwarted several attempts by insurgents to regain control over the liberated area, confirming that heavy losses were inflicted upon the terrorists.
Last week, the General Command of the Syrian Army announced that the allied forces had reached the Iraqi borders as they recaptured more than a fifth of the country’s strategic Badiyah desert.
The Badiyah extends over some 90,000 square kilometers from central Syria to the Iraqi and Jordanian borders.
