President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday returned to Beirut, concluding an official visit to Qatar at the invitation of the Qatari Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
President Aoun was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Rajji.
Following talks between the President of the Republic and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani affirmed “his country’s keenness to stand by Lebanon and its people, and support them in their aspirations for progress and achieving the desired prosperity and development.”
In a post on his official X account, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said: “I held important discussions with Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun in Doha today, during which we reviewed ways to develop the solid relations that unite our two brotherly countries and peoples. These relations have always been characterized by cooperation, understanding, and mutual respect that achieve common interests and goals in various fields.”
He added: “From this standpoint, Qatar is keen to stand by Lebanon and its brotherly people and support them in their aspirations for progress and achieving the desired prosperity and development.”
A joint statement on the outcomes of the meeting and discussions held between President Aoun and Sheikh Tamim at the Amiri Diwan in Doha was issued, underlining the importance of the economic reforms in Lebanon.
Qatar also affirmed its financial support to the Lebanese Army, providing 60 million dollars to reinforce the military salaries and 162 vehicles for the Army to carry out its security missions in Lebanon.
