Following the attack, Palestinian media reported a mass evacuation of wounded and critically ill patients, many of whom were left lying in the streets surrounding the hospital. This marked a second evacuation alert after the missile strike.

Hamas: A Crime with an American Green Light
In a statement, Hamas considered “the bombing of the Baptist Hospital and the displacement of patients and wounded within it a new war crime committed by the fascist occupation army, as part of its series of brutal crimes in the Gaza Strip.” The statement added that this “brutal crime confirms once again that we are facing a criminal, rogue entity that violates all laws, regulations, and humanitarian norms, operating with American cover and complicity amid the complete disruption of all international accountability mechanisms.”
The movement held “the US administration fully responsible for the brutal occupation crime at the Baptist Hospital,” stressing that it would not have occurred “had it not been for the green light granted by Washington.”
The movement wondered how the world, and its political and legal institutions, led by the UN Security Council, could remain silent about these unprecedented crimes in the modern era, which include the targeting and bombing of hospitals, the perpetration of massacres there, and the abuse of patients and the wounded, displacing them into the streets.
The Government Media Office in Gaza echoed these sentiments, asserting that this attack was not an isolated incident but part of a broader pattern of aggression. They highlighted previous atrocities committed at the same hospital and noted that 34 health facilities had already been rendered inoperative due to systematic targeting. They placed responsibility for the attack on the Israeli occupation, the US administration, and other nations complicit in the violence.
The statement called on “the international community, United Nations agencies, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to condemn this crime. We also call on them to take swift and urgent action to put an end to this organized terrorism and to work immediately to protect what remains of the health facilities in the Gaza Strip.” The statement added that “the Baptist Hospital, which includes several specialized departments, was serving hundreds of patients and the wounded, and providing health services to more than one million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and North Gaza Governorates, amid the near-total collapse of the health system due to the genocide, the siege, and the continuous bombardment.”
