An individual holding Syrian nationality opened fire on the American Embassy in Lebanon, located in the Awkar area, according to a statement by the Lebanese Army.
“Army personnel deployed in the area responded to the gunfire, injuring the shooter. He was then apprehended and transported to a hospital for treatment,” the statement read.
The statement highlighted that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident.
The US Embassy declared that both the facility and the embassy staff are safe, noting that investigations are ongoing in collaboration with Lebanese law enforcement.
