Al-Shifa Hospital, a vital medical facility in Gaza City, has been forced to initiate evacuations, leaving behind a significant number of wounded individuals and five dedicated doctors. The scenes both inside and outside the hospital have been described as unprecedented and horrifying, as the severity of the patients’ conditions presents challenges in finding alternative hospitals or safe shelters for them.

The evacuation process has shed light on yet another crisis, highlighting the dire circumstances faced by the patients and medical teams. The hospital lacks ambulances to transport the patients and premature babies to the southern part of Gaza, forcing many to be hastily placed on wheelchairs or rolling beds in a desperate search for safety.

Adding to the urgency, Gaza’s Ministry of Health has reported that premature babies are still in the hospital, facing dire conditions due to the Israeli siege imposed on the Gaza Strip. The lack of power, fuel scarcity, and oxygen depletion have rendered their incubators useless, exacerbating an already critical situation.
Family members have been forced to carry their injured children or parents on foot as they embark on the arduous journey to safety. The invading Israeli occupation forces have provided no means of transportation or fuel for ambulances or any vehicles to aid in the transfer of patients, premature babies, and displaced families during the forced evacuation.
Earlier, the Israeli occupation forces issued a one-hour ultimatum to evacuate the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, leaving doctors, patients, and displaced people with a limited window of time to leave the complex. The humanitarian situation at the Shifa Medical Complex has reached catastrophic levels, with patients pleading for food and experiencing extreme pain, while displaced individuals have limited access to basic necessities.
