The Islamic Jihad resistance movement is using a new weapon against ‘Israel’ in this battle, which is the “war of nerves”, senior Israeli national security researcher said.
In an article circulated by Hebrew media on Wednesday, Yehoshua Kalisky – senior researcher at the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) – said the anxiety ‘Israel’ has witnessed in the last two days over the anticipated revenge by the Islamic Jihad “creates a weird situation” between the occupation and the resistance groups.
“According to Israel, this is an accurate act that matches with the Israeli desire to limit the struggle in time and place with one side, which is the Islamic Jihad,” he was quoted as saying by Hebrew media, hinting at the Zionist policy aimed at avoiding being engaged in a battle with Hamas resistance movement.
Kalisky said that despite what he called the “high performance” of the Israeli military in conducting the operation which killed three senior Islamic Jihad on Tuesday (May 9) – dubbed ‘Operation Shield and Arrow’- “a state of anxiety and uncertainty prevailed among the Israelis.”
“Such stress was associated by reports on disruptions in the routine in south Israel, preparations for rocket attacks from Gaza and partial paralysis in both public and private sectors, as well as cancelling events and roads closure.”

On the other hand, Kalisky noted that the Palestinians realize that such reactions among Israelis reflect weakness.
In this context, the Israeli researcher cited Islamic Jihad official Mohammad Al-Hindi’s remarks in which he said that the Israeli enemy “can’t tolerate the war of nerves.”
“Beyond that, the Israeli crowds’ rapid anticipation of the Islamic Jihad’s retaliation enables the group to initiate a new round and to impose its conditions in order to end it,” he said, as quoted by Hebrew media.
Kalisky concluded his article by recommending that “an Israeli communication strategy must be developed in a bid to professionally prepare the Israeli crowds for the unknown and to work to neutralize their fears.”
