Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted Friday that the Islamic Republic was unmoved by US threats following its successful missile test launch and that Tehran would never initiate war.
“Iran is unmoved by threats as we derive security from our people. Will never initiate war, but we can only rely on our own means of defense,” Zarif wrote.
He added that Tehran would continue its efforts aimed at protecting the Iranian people.
US President Donald Trump tweeted early Friday that “Iran is playing with fire” and “they don’t appreciate how kind President Obama was to them. Not me!”
The tensions in bilateral ties between Washington and Tehran strengthened following Iran’s recent ballistic missile test. In response to the move, the United States put the country on notice for the test violating a UN resolution.
Iran said Thursday it would not yield to “useless” US threats from “an inexperienced person” over its missile program.
