Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian has slammed a recent resolution adopted by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) against Tehran, saying the move served the political interests of the US government.
Amir-Abdollahian said on Saturday during a meeting with visiting Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi that IAEA’s anti-Iran resolution on November 17 coincided with efforts to influence the US public after parliamentary elections in the country.
In line with the efforts to influence the domestic environment and in accordance with America’s current deceitful policies, a resolution against Iran was suddenly put on the table by politically abusing the IAEA, said Amir-Abdollahian.
The top diplomat said Iran will adopt effective measures to counter the move while respecting its international commitments.
For his part, Omani FM Albusaidi renewed his invitation for Amir-Abdollahian to visit Muscat and expressed hope that Oman and Iran will continue to play a constructive role in addressing regional and international challenges.
