The Lebanese caretaker prime minister Najib Mikati met in New York with the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in the margins of the UN General Assembly.
Mikati said that the talks tackled the various files, including the presidential vote, Syrian refugees, the agreement with the International Monetary Fund, electricity and education.
For his part, Blinken described the meeting as ‘fruitful’, intervening in Lebanon’s presidential elections by highlighting “the need for the vote to be held in a timely manner”.
Mikati also confirmed that the maritime border demarcation file is witnessing a “major progress.” It is worth noting that the US energy envoy Amos Hochstein attended Mikati-Blinken meeting.
