Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim stressed what he called the importance of the deployment of his country’s troops in Iraq, claiming that they are training the local fighters in Bashiqa military camp to fight ISIL terrorist group.
Yildirim, who is scheduled to visit Iraq on Saturday, stated that he will tackle with the Iraqi officials the means of fighting ISIL and PKK terrorist groups.
The Iraqi government has always demanded that Turkey withdraws its troops from Bashiqa military camp, asserting the Turkish deployment violates Iraq’s sovereignty.
Turkey PM reiterated the determination of his government to change the ruling system in the country to become presidential, adding that if the parliament does not approve the constitutional amendment, the government will resort to referendum.
The Turkish opposition considers that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plots to confiscate the constitutional powers in order to tighten his grip over the reign in Turkey.
