Lebanon witnessed rise in new coronavirus infections and related deaths as it recorded on Sunday 1,551 new coronavirus cases and five related deaths, Ministry of Public Health announced.

1,509 new infections were recorded among local residents, while the other 43 cases were imported, the ministry said in its daily report, putting the total infections nationwide since February 2020 to 571,650.

Five new fatalities were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 7,943, the ministry stated.
