Reuters reported that French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian will visit Lebanon on May 5 and 6, to discuss the political crisis with senior officials.
According to a memorandum by the French Embassy in Beirut, Le Drian requested meetings that included an encounter with the President of the Republic Michel Aoun and the House Speaker Nabih Berri.
The visit of the French top diplomat is aimed at addressing the governmental stalemate in Lebanon as the PM-designate, Saad Hariri, has failed to agree with President Aoun on the cabinet lineup since he was tasked to form the new government on October 22, 2020.
