The Lebanese President Michel Aoun called Wednesday on the prime minister-designate Saad Hariri to visit Baabda Palace in order to form the new government immediately in agreement with his excellency and in accordance with the constitutional mechanism and standards.
In a televised address to the nation, President Aoun pointed out that if Hariri fails to create the salvation government which can address the ongoing crisis, he should make way for anyone else who is capable of carrying out the governmental mission.
President Aoun affirmed that reaching public posts is valueless amid the numerous crises which have stormed the nation, including the pandemic, Beirut Port blast and the socioeconomic problems, highlighting his own endeavor to fight corruption despite hardships.
On October 22, 2o2o, Hariri was tasked to form the new government after 65 MPs designated him during parliamentary elections by President Aoun at Baabda Palace.
However, the Aoun and Hariri failed to reach an agreement on the government lineup during the 16 meeting they held for this purpose.
