The Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri told Assafir daily that he does not want to control the cabinet, but at the same time he refuses to be controlled by anyone.
He also wondered how some political parties who have a limited parliamentary representation are being granted more ministerial portfolios than those given to major blocs in the parliament.
The House Speaker also issued a statement on Monday as a “clarification” and not a “retaliation” to PM-Designate Saad Hariri saying that “he who hinders matters is the one who violates the Constitution, norms, and rules of [Cabinet] formation.”
Berri asked if the ulterior motive was to keep the 60s law in circulation.
