The Lebanese Army said noted, via Twitter, on Friday that visiting Chief of Staff of the French Army, General Francois Lecointre, inspected Beirut port, where he was briefed on the tasks that had been performed by the LAF troops in the wake of August 4 blast.
“General Lecointre praised the Lebanese army’s efforts, in cooperation with the French teams, which participated in the search and rescue operations,” the LAF tweeted.
Two massive explosions rocked the port on August 4, killing around 185 people and wounding more than 6000. Dozens also are still missing.
The blast also destroyed most of the port’s constructions and damaged a huge number of buildings in the capital and its suburbs.
