Israeli occupation army said an Israeli fighter jet shot down a drone launched from the Gaza Strip off the coast of the Palestinian enclave on Tuesday.
“Earlier today a Hamas UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) took off from the Gaza Strip and was intercepted by an IAF (Israeli air force) aircraft just off the coast of the Gaza Strip,” a statement from the occupation military read.
“The UAV was under IAF surveillance from the moment it took off from the Gaza Strip.”
There was no immediate reaction from the Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas.
No details were immediately available about the drone downed on Tuesday.
Hamas claimed responsibility for two drone incursions into the occupied territories during the 2014 Israeli war on the besieged strip.
“Hamas has been developing its drone capabilities especially in the last two years,” Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said.
