Reservists from the Israeli occupation military’s elite 8200 intelligence unit are voicing public support for the Israeli Air Force pilots who recently called for an immediate shift in the government’s war policy.
In the statement, the 8200 reservists say they “join the call of the aircrews in demanding the immediate return of the hostages, even at the cost of an immediate change in the conduct of the war.”
“We identify with the assertion that at the time the war serves mainly political and personal interests and not security interests,” the letter read, according to Haaretz newspaper.
“Continuation of the war does not contribute to any of its declared goals and will bring the death of the hostages, IDF [Israeli military] soldiers and innocent people,” it added.
The paper expected that additional alumni of the unit are to join the call. A group of entrepreneurs, investors and employees in the Israeli high-tech sector is expected to publish a similar letter on Friday.
#Israel‘s Channel 13: reports that hundreds of reserve soldiers from Intel Unit 8200 have now join the protest started by Air Force reservists. The petition, sent to the #Netanyahu administration, was signed by over 1000 soldiers, calling for an end to the assault of #Gaza.

Their declaration adds to a growing wave of criticism from within Israeli reserve forces.
In recent days, reservist doctors and navy veterans have also released letters warning that the current course of the war endangers both hostages and soldiers and calling on the government to act immediately to bring the captives to the Zionist entity.
On Thursday, a group of close to 1,000 reservists with the Israeli Air Force published a letter demanding the return of the Israeli captives in Gaza, with signatories arguing that the continuation of war “serves political and personal interests.”
