Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Africa is becoming a new center of power, both politically and economically.
Speaking at the Russia-Africa summit, Putin stressed that the continent’s growing role should be recognized by all nations. African leaders who advocate for freedom, integrity, and sovereignty are crucial in establishing a more balanced world order, Putin added.
However, he noted that certain colonial practices are still in place, with some former colonial powers imposing their will in African economies, information and humanitarian aid.
Putin pledged Russia’s continued support for Africa, with plans to open new diplomatic missions and increase staff, including the reopening of embassies in Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea.
Additionally, he said Russia would offer $90 million in debt relief for African countries.
