House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Monday cabled Syrian President Dr. Bashar al-Assad, offering condolences over the victims of the earthquake that struck several provinces in Syria.
In his cable, Speaker Berri said: “With great sorrow and sympathy, we have been following up on the consequences caused by the devastating earthquake that struck several governorates in the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, leaving a large number of victims and injured, in addition to the massive destruction of homes, institutions and facilities.”
Berri offered deepest condolences to the Syrian President and to the families of the victims, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery, and expressing solidarity and support to Syria, its leadership, government, and people, in these difficult moments that require an Arab and international humanitarian mobilization in support of Syria to heal its wounds.
Speaker Berri also cabled Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressing deepest condolences to the Turkish President and to the families of the victims of the earthquake that struck some Turkish regions and cities, and wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
“May God Almighty grant you and the friendly Turkish people the ability to overcome the painful repercussions of this disaster,” Berri said in his cable.
