Iranian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari arrived in the Kazakh capital on Saturday to attend the Syria talks.
The talks attended by the Iranian, Russian and Turkish officials are to focus on the crisis in Syria.
Upon arrival, the members of the Iranian delegation will start preliminary negotiations with the Russian and Turkish delegates, IRNA news agency reported.
Astana talks are slated for January 23-24. The aims of the talks are achieving ceasefire in Syria, effectively fighting against terrorism and holding intra Syria dialogue between the government of that country and the opposition groups in order to prepare the ground for a political solution to the crisis there.
