Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi said in a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan that any changes to international borders was unacceptable and sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries should be observed.
Raisi and Erdogan met on the sidelines of the 22nd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on Friday.
They reviewed the agreements made in the recent visit to Tehran by Erdogan and emphasized acceleration of implementation of those agreements.
President Raisi said that Iran opposes paternalism and supports self-determination, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
He also touched on the development in the South Caucasus, emphasizing Iran’s policy on welcoming the liberation of Karabakh and readiness to reconstruct that region and opposing any changes to international, historical, and geopolitical borders.
