Head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, welcomed on Saturday at his residence in Beirut MP Talal Arslan as discussions tackled the latest political and economic developments as well as the cabinet formation in Lebanon.
Well-informed sources told Al-Manar TV Channel that Jumblatt on Friday had contacted the premier-designate, Saad Hariri, hoping that the recent contacts manage to end the governmental stalemate.
On October 22, 2020, Hariri was tasked to form the new government after 65 members of the parliament nominated him during the binding consultations held by President Michel Aoun.
It is worth noting that the procrastination in the governmental file has contributed to the sharp increase of the US dollar exchange rate against the Lebanese pound. On Saturday, it was trading at nearly 13,000 pounds to the dollar on the black market, accoridng to media reports.
