Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hamad Hasan, announced that “the vaccination campaign has proven, a week after its launch, that it is being carried out in a good and systematic way, despite some violations that are quickly addressed in some centers.”
In an interview with Al-Mayadeen Channel, on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Dr. Hasan affirmed that “the pitfalls that we went through in the face of the epidemic were very difficult, especially the epidemic explosion that resulted from the indulgence of holidays and the previous repercussions of the port explosion.”
Minister Hasan stressed that “the vaccine provided an additional effective factor in facing the epidemic, in addition to preventive behavior.”
He declared that “Lebanon will receive 250,000 vaccines from Pfizer at the end of next March, provided that shipments will continue until the quantity of two million and one hundred thousand vaccines arrives.”
The Minister pointed out that “in the coming period, various types of vaccines will be available, and they will be free for the Lebanese,” affirming the Ministry’s adoption of justice and transparency principles.
Hasan also revealed that importing the Russian vaccine via the Ministry of Public Health ensures sensitive shipping conditions at temperatures below 18 degrees, or through a tripartite agreement that secures more vaccines for community initiatives.
Finally, he pointed out that, a year after the spread of the epidemic, the outlook for the public health sector appears different in terms of equipping government hospitals with intensive care rooms, modern and advanced equipment and supplies.
