The Court of Cassation headed by Judge Jamal Al-Hajjar, tasked to study the claim submitted by former ministers Ali Hassan Khalil and Ghazi Zeaiter on grounds of legitimate suspicion, issued a decision to remove judge Fadi Sawwan from the Beirut port explosion probe and assign the case to another judge to be appointed in accordance with Article 360 of the Criminal Code.
It is worth noting that the probe has failed to address the real culprit involved in importing and storing the huge amounts of ammonium nitrate which exploded on August 4, 2020, which killed around 200 citizens, injured more than 6000 others, and destroyed most of the port constructions and a large number of houses in Beirut.
Concerning the Beirut Port Blast investigation results, Hezbollah secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah revealed that Hezbollah followed up with the Lebanese Army Forces and the Internal Security Forces apparatuses on the Port Blast investigation and urged them to announce results, adding that“they said details can’t be revealed on the matter.”
“Announcing the results is important on the economic level, some insurance companies are cheating on people’s right of payments on pretexts related to the unknown cause of the explosion. Insurance payments amounts could reach 1.2 billion dollars.”
