Lebanese Prime Minister-Designate Saad Hariri visited on Friday Baabda Palace to discuss the latest developments related to the cabinet formation President Michel Aoun.
After the meeting, Hariri pointed out that the governmental file has not witnessed any progress, noting that his visit aimed at highlighting the ‘golden chance’ to cope with the crisis.
Hariri added he maintained, during his meeting with President Aoun, that Lebanon would obtain the international support except only if it forms a government composed of experts.
The presidency press office issued a statement which noted that the meeting was held upon Hariri’s request to discuss the outcome of his foreign tours with President Aoun, adding that the prime minister-designate did not have any new suggestions.
French President Emmanuel Macron received Hariri on Wednesday evening at the Elysee Palace in Paris. The meeting, which lasted two hours, focused on Lebanon’s cabinet formation and the latest regional developments.
On October 22, 2020, Hariri was tasked to form the new government after 65 members of the parliament nominated him during the binding consultations held by President Aoun.
