President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, met Tuesday with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Sheikh Mohammad Ben Abdel Rahman Al-Thani, with talks centering on ways of promoting bilateral relations.
Aoun welcomed Al-Thani at Baabda Palace this morning upon his arrival in Beirut on an official visit accompanied by an official Qatari delegation.
Following their meeting, Al-Thani stressed that the Lebanese parties should form the government as soon as possible, in the interest of the Lebanese people.
The Qatari official deemed that the formation of the government is an internal matter, noting that Qatar maintains good relations with all Lebanese parties.
He also emphasized that his country supports any process that leads to the formation of the Lebanese government, noting that Qatar is not working to undermine the French initiative, but rather is working to complete international efforts in favor of forming a government.
