The Lebanese presidency press office issued on Friday night a statement which responded to an earlier statement issued by the prime minister-designate Saad Hariri in response to an article published on the same day by Al-Akhbar newspaper that included President Michel Aoun’s firm stances pertaining the cabinet formation.
The presidency stressed that Hariri’s statement included baseless information, adding that the PM-designate insists on forming the government without taking into consideration the remarks of President Aoun.
The presidential statement stressed that Article 53 of the Constitution stipulates the cooperation between the president and the prime minister-designate pertaining the cabinet formation, which sustains partnership and coexistence.
The presidency confirmed there would be no government that contradicts partnership, and true coexistence, based on national balance and protecting its foundations”.
Meanwhile, the latest developments related to the government formation in Lebanon indicate mere procrastination amid ongoing exchange of statements which insist on the same stances.
