Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Thursday stressed importance to form the new government in a bid to confront current challenges.

In remarks carried by National News Agency, President Aoun called for confronting the current challenges with high determination, urging Lebanese citizens to abide by anti-coronavirus measures.

“We work so that the new year will see the handling of the harsh economic crisis, especially following the tragic crime of Beirut Port explosion.”

“Such approach requires the presence of an effective government,” President Aoun said, hoping that the cabinet formation will not be delayed more.

Meanwhile, President Aoun and caretake Prime Minister Hassan Diab signed a decree to extend general mobilization.

“President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, and Caretaker Prime Minister, Dr. Hassan Diab, as well as concerned ministers, signed the decree #7315 to extend general mobilization from 1/1/2021 until 3/31/2021 inclusive,” NNA reported.
