Qatar: We Bridged Gaps to Seal US-Iran Settlement

Qatar announced on Monday that it played a pivotal role in bridging “gaps in viewpoints” between Tehran and Washington, helping finalize a landmark settlement that Doha describes as the first step toward a broader regional consensus guaranteeing long-term stability.

Speaking to reporters, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson confirmed that Qatar will be officially represented at the upcoming Geneva meeting, where the memorandum of understanding is set to be signed on Friday. The official emphasized that Doha’s mediation efforts were instrumental in achieving consensus between the two sides covering not only the ceasefire and Lebanon-related provisions but also the resumption of navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Coordinated with Pakistani Mediation
The spokesperson noted that Qatar is actively coordinating with all parties within the framework of the ongoing Pakistani-mediated process, underscoring Doha’s commitment to a multilateral approach. “We worked to achieve consensus between the two sides, the resumption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and the continuation of the ceasefire,” he stated, adding that Qatar remains in constant contact with all stakeholders to ensure the agreement holds.

Vision for Regional Stability
Reaffirming Qatar’s diplomatic vision, the official declared, “We want the return of regional peace and security to the pre-war status quo, and we are working to achieve this.” He stressed that the current agreement is not an endpoint but a foundational step, vowing that Qatar will continue its efforts to prevent any resurgence of escalation and to consolidate stability across the region. With Geneva on the horizon, Doha positions itself as an indispensable broker in what it hopes will be a lasting de-escalation between Washington and Tehran.
