Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri condemned the Israeli occupation army’s brutal killing of civilians, including children and women, in Maifadoun, Al-Rmadieh, and Maydoun on Saturday, and in Arabsalim early Sunday, as well as the destruction of the Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh Al-Fawqa and the targeting of the Finance Ministry’s department in the city of Nabatieh.
Speaker Berri said the attacks, along with the Israeli enemy’s continued campaign of destruction and the extermination, targeting homes and villages in the districts of Nabatieh, Marjayoun, Bint Jbeil, and Tyre, constitute crimes that, by their nature and scale, amount to condemned and denounced acts of terrorism.
He said the developments demonstrated that “Israel,” by continuing its unprecedentedly bloody campaign of destruction, had provided conclusive evidence that it had not adhered to any form of ceasefire. Berri affirmed the Israeli occupation is acting outside all rules, agreements, and understandings, saying that its political and military leadership was now turning southern Lebanon, its people, and their property into “a ballot box of blood” ahead of the upcoming elections, in a contest in which, he said, all sides were competing over who could kill and destroy more.
“Once again, what has happened and is happening in the south, while it is an international responsibility requiring urgent intervention to stop the war on Lebanon and its south, is also a national responsibility that requires all parties to stand by the south, consider its cause the cause of all Lebanese, and recognize that defending it is defending Lebanon. Mercy for the martyrs and a speedy recovery for the wounded,” Speaker Berri concluded.
At least four people were martyred and twenty others were injured as Israeli warplanes unleashed widespread assault across Nabatieh in southern Lebanon.

PM Salam: Attacks Will Not Deter Government Support for Residents
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, for his part, said the Israeli attacks would not deter the government from supporting the return of residents to their communities and their steadfastness.
During a phone call with Nabatieh Mayor Abbas Fakhreddine to check on the safety of residents and receive an update on the extent of the damage caused by the Israeli attacks on the city early Sunday, Salam said the attacks “will not deter the government from remaining committed to supporting the return and steadfastness of residents and providing everything necessary to ensure the continued operation of public facilities and meet citizens’ needs.”
In a separate call with Nabatieh Imam Sheikh Abdel Hussein Sadeq, the prime minister expressed solidarity with the city’s residents, offered condolences to the families of the civilian victims, and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
PM Salam also spoke with Finance Minister Yassine Jaber and was briefed on the damage sustained by the Finance Ministry building in Nabatieh. He praised Jaber’s efforts and swift action to take the necessary measures to ensure continuity of operations, safeguard citizens’ interests, and prevent disruption to their transactions.
