Syrian army began on Thursday a wide-scale offensive on militants’ positions in the neighborhoods of eastern Aleppo, the opposition UK-based Observatory reported, referring to the unprecedented participation of the Russian Air Force.
“Russian warplanes carried out since Wednesday more than 100 raids on insurgent positions,” the monitor said, mainly in Sokkari and Sheikh Saeed neighborhoods, and the outskirts of Amiriyah.
The Observatory, moreover, pointed out that the Syrian army forces managed to secure the Ramousa-Amiriya highway, in an attempt to advance between Sokkari and Sheikh Saeed neighborhoods.
