Hamas, along with other Resistance factions, has launched a staggering 12,000 rockets into “Israel”, specifically targeting major settlements. The New York Times reports that a quarter of these rockets were fired on October 7 alone.
The Israeli occupation’s government confirmed the alarming number of rocket attacks, underscoring the extent of Hamas’ arsenal and its ability to endanger areas far beyond Gaza. While rocket attacks from Gaza have long plagued southern Israel along the border, the ongoing war on Gaza has made air raid sirens a common experience for Israelis across the occupied territories, as per the report. Even central cities like Tel Aviv and occupied al-Quds have been subjected to alarm sirens in recent weeks.
Israeli media outlet Channel 12 revealed that Hamas’ missile arsenal continues to pose a significant threat to the internal Israeli front. On December 8, the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, released video footage showcasing their latest weapon, the LM-90 Multiple Rocket Launcher (MLR). Capable of carrying up to eight rockets at a time, this advancement in production and military capabilities demonstrates a significant milestone for the Palestinian Resistance.
The video, titled “Tel Aviv will be burnt to the ground, al-Quds will be liberated,” pays homage to the late Ibrahim al-Makadmeh, one of Hamas’ founders and a revered Palestinian figure. It also reveals that the rocket launcher itself is named after al-Makadmeh, making it the second rocket to carry the late leader’s name.

Dubbed M-90, this rocket can reach a range of 90 km, granting the Resistance faction the ability to target central areas in occupied Palestine, including the bustling city of Tel Aviv, from multiple positions in the Gaza Strip. The M-75, another rocket system introduced by the Resistance in 2012, has been extensively utilized in various confrontations, with notable engagements in the Battle of Seif al-Quds in May 2021 and the ongoing Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
Interestingly, the video release coincided with al-Qassam Brigades’ announcement of three separate rocket launching operations aimed at Tel Aviv. Israeli media outlets reported hearing “loud blasts” in the area, further emphasizing the threat Hamas poses.
The adjustable platform of the rocket launcher unveiled by al-Qassam Brigades allows for firing at different angles, thanks to a crank mechanism. Such flexibility enhances the efficacy of targeted strikes from various positions, amplifying the danger to Israeli cities.
As the conflict persists, the international community closely monitors the actions of both sides, hoping for an eventual resolution that brings peace and stability to the region.
