Former US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker said it clear on May 2022: The administration of former US president Donald Trump fastened Lebanon economic collapse and exploited 2019 protests.
A year after Schenker’s well known remarks during The Washington Institute’s virtual Policy Forum, pro-resistance Lebanese echoed Imam Hussein’s (AS) resonant saying “Humiliation, never!”, defying tyranny with all means.
Ashura this year was a special occasion for the Lebanese people to demonstrate resilience in face of economic adversity pushed by the US.
Amid a stifling economic crisis, Lebanese show determination to confront the US blockade by distributing free meals and establishing more than 800 Madafas (food stalls) across the country. The initiative was seen all over Lebanon on Ashura days.
Al-Manar correspondent had a tour of the Madafas established in Beirut’s southern suburb (Dahiyeh).
Earlier on July 26, 2023, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah hailed this community-helping initiative and urged the pro-resistance community to stand in solidarity with each other amid the 4-year-old economic crisis in Lebanon.
His poignant words highlighted the transformative power of giving and its ability to strengthen the bonds of solidarity within the community.
