After the failure of the Lebanese Forces and allies to elect Jihad Azour as a new president of Lebanon during the 12th vote session, the militia chief resorted to a pro-Israel American institute in order to provoke the US administration against Hezbollah.
In an interview with the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Geagea said that, although the US sanctions are not enough, they can function as a valuable add to the political efforts in different domains.
The Lebanese Forces Chief also acquitted the US siege on Lebanon of any contribution to the economic collapse, alleging that only the internal conditions led to that crisis.
Weirdly Geagea mentioned that the US administration granted Lebanon over the two recent decades 6 billion dollars, without presenting any proof.
Geagea literally described Hezbollah as an unlawful radical group, disregarding all the norms that rule the political rhetoric used by the Lebanese political parties when addressing one another.
Geagea also claimed that Hezbollah is imposing its candidate Sleiman Franjiyeh for presidency, saying that he would do his best to prevent the Party from achieving its target.
While talking about the US support to the Lebanese Armed Forces,. Geagea avoided mentioning the Israeli enemy as a source of threat that the LAF must confront.
Geagea again boasted of ordering his militiamen to open fire at unarmed demonstrators who crossed Tayyoneh area in order to protest against the politicization of the Beirut blast probe.
In addition to the political flaws, Geagea displayed a very poor English performance, which led the social media users to share and laugh at.
The Washington Institute for Near East Policy (WINEP or TWI, also known simply as The Washington Institute) is a pro-Israel American think tank based in Washington, D.C., focused on the foreign policy of the United States in the Near East. WINEP was established in 1985 with the support of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the funding of many AIPAC donors, in order to provide higher quality research than AIPAC’s publications.
