The Lebanese presidency issued on Friday a statement in which it denies President Michel Aoun demanded a 10-minister share in the new government, adding that the unified criteria have been the only target during the talks with the President.
The statement also refuted the claims about the alleged President’s condition of having one-third of the members of the cabinet, stressing that Aoun has never nominated a partisan name to be appointed in the new government.
According the presidency, Aoun has always been positive during the cabinet formation talks, warning against the ongoing attempts to push the premier-designate Najib Mikati to quit his endeavor to create the new government.
On July 26, Mikati was nominated by 73 members of the parliament to form the new government during the binding parliamentary consultations at Baabda Palace.
