Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh on Sunday announced the first foreign trip of the new Syrian foreign minister Faisal Mikdad will be to Iran.
Khatibzadeh said that Mikdad will meet his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif and also other officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad appointed Mikdad as the new foreign minister on November 22 to replace his predecessor Walid al-Muallem who passed away.
