Lebanon recorded 1,041 new coronavirus cases Monday and 11 new deaths as Health Ministry announced a COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in Lebanon at the end of the winter season.

In its daily report, the ministry said that of the new cases, 14 were found among travelers arriving from abroad and the rest was from locals, raising the total infections nationwide to 117476.

6171 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, including 844 at Beirut International Airport, according to the report.

861 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours, including 339 at the ICU rooms, the report added, noting that the number of recoveries reached 69079.

Caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan said Lebanon is set to receive COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer in mid-February.

“Lebanon will receive the Pfizer vaccine in mid-February at the latest, if it gets final approval,” Hasan said during an interview with local Al-Jadeed TV.

Lebanon has been since Saturday (November 14) witnessing a two-week full lockdown over surge in coronavirus cases, with caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan stressing that the confinement measures aim at raising the readiness of the hospitals across the country in a bid to battle the viral respiratory disease.
