Deputy head of Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandes stressed on Wednesday that developments in Tal Afar airport in Mosul city is a great achievement made by the PMF which will be the starting point toward more operations.
“In the upcoming days, you will hear serious developments in our operations,” he said.
The PMF official pointed out that there are still large swathes of areas inside Iraq in which the army has not stepped since 2003, noting that they house more than a million locals.
“It is somehow a complicated issue,” he said.
“We were not in a rush and managed to liberate large areas in the western side of Mosul out of our task where the army and the police were supposed to fight,” Mohandes said.
Iraqi military and PMF launched a wide-ranging campaign on October 17 to liberate Mosul form the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ (ISIL) terrorist group.
