Gaza: Mother and Infant Daughter Martyred in Israeli Strikes

A mother and her young daughter were Martyred, and several displaced civilians wounded, in an overnight Israeli airstrike that ignited a tent encampment in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, according to local correspondents an attack that has drawn a blistering condemnation from Hamas over what it termed the international community’s complicit silence.

In separate strikes, at least five Palestinians, including a child, were martyred and more than 30 others sustained injuries when Israeli warplanes targeted Deir al-Balah in central Gaza and additional sites in Khan Younis, the Civil Defense authority reported. Local media further documented a demolition operation carried out by Israeli forces northeast of Khan Younis, while in the northern Strip, aircraft bombed a home near the Khazendar station in the Karama area, northwest of Gaza City. Concurrently, Israeli military vehicles opened fire toward the Atatra area in Beit Lahia and east of Gaza City.

Responding to the overnight violence, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem took to Telegram to condemn the strikes on the flimsy shelters housing displaced families. “Another child is added to the tens of thousands of children killed by the occupation through bombardment, starvation, denial of medical care, terror, and deprivation of a father, a mother, or both,” Qassem declared.

In a scathing rebuke, Qassem turned his criticism toward regional actors, stating: “All of this is happening while the world around us hears and watches, yet does nothing. The Arab League states, with their parties, parliaments, scholars and elites, remain motionless and silent. And before all of them, the Palestinian Authority, holed up in Ramallah, watches everything as if it is happening in another world.” He asserted that all these entities are “adversaries of this child before God” for their prolonged silence over preceding crimes and for every soul lost in what he termed the “insane genocide” on Gazan soil.

Earlier, the Government Media Office in Gaza reported that 3,465 violations of the ceasefire agreement have been recorded since it took effect, resulting in 1,045 deaths. The ongoing Israeli military campaign has wounded 3,380 people, while 113 individuals have been detained during the truce period, according to the office.
