Gaza Ceasefire Unravels: 3 Martyred as Israeli Airstrikes Pound Displacement Camps

The fragile ceasefire in Gaza continued to fray on Tuesday as Israeli warplanes struck multiple displacement camps and residential areas across the territory, killing at least three Palestinians and wounding dozens more, medical officials reported.

The latest wave of Israeli aggression comes 258 days after the truce took effect, with Israeli occupation forces intensifying operations in both the southern and northern regions of Gaza strips.

Deadly Strikes in Khan Younis

In the southern city of Khan Younis, an Israeli airstrike targeted an electric bicycle near Street 5 on Tuesday evening, killing one civilian and wounding several others, according to local medical sources. Early Wednesday morning, another victim succumbed to injuries sustained in the same attack, raising the death toll from the incident to two.

Earlier in the day, an Israeli drone strike hit a tent in the Al-Ard Al-Tayyiba camp west of Khan Younis, killing one person and injuring a young girl who was passing nearby.

Camps for Displaced Under Fire

In Gaza City, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of nighttime airstrikes on three camps housing displaced families, after issuing evacuation orders that sent panicked residents scrambling for safety.

Dozens of tents were reduced to rubble in the Sheikh Ajlin neighborhood, southwest of the city, while another camp northwest of Gaza City sustained significant damage in a Tuesday evening strike. In the Al-Mahatta area of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of the city, additional airstrikes destroyed shelters belonging to displaced families.

Incursions and Explosions Rock North Gaza

Massive explosions echoed across residential neighborhoods east of the Jabalia refugee camp and east of Gaza City as Israeli forces carried out heavy bombardment. Meanwhile, Israeli occupation military vehicles pushed into Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, accompanied by intense gunfire, according to local witnesses.

Rising Toll Since Ceasefire

Since the ceasefire agreement took effect, the cumulative death toll has reached 1,027 Palestinians, with an additional 3,280 wounded and 785 bodies recovered from the rubble, according to health officials.

Since the onset of the devastating war on October 7, 2023, at least 73,039 Palestinians have been martyred across the Gaza Strip, with 173,388 others wounded, the territory’s health ministry reported.
