Lebanese President Joseph Aoun discussed with US Vice President JD Vance efforts to maintain a ceasefire, Lebanese Presidency announced on Monday.
In a post on X account, the Lebanese Presidency said Aoun and Vance discussed during a phone call “efforts to maintain a ceasefire and halt Israeli military escalation during, as well as the required steps to achieve this, including the potential establishment of a dedicated coordination cell.”

White House envoy Jared Kushner and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani also take part in the call between Aoun and Vance, the Lebanese Presidency noted.
The phone call comes after mediators of the US-Iran talks Pakistan and Qatar announced on Monday that Washington and Tehran agreed to set up communications lines to end fighting in Lebanon, including a “de-confliction cell.”
