Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the emerging understanding with the United States as a “historic document” reflecting the strength and standing of Iran, asserting that lasting peace can only be achieved through “mutual respect.”
In a post on X, Pezeshkian said the agreement sends “a message from a powerful Iran,” emphasizing that the Islamic Republic remains firmly committed to global peace while safeguarding “its dignity and independence.”

“Iran has always been steadfast in pursuing peace,” he wrote, adding that Tehran’s approach is rooted in advancing regional cooperation without compromising its sovereign decision-making.
The remarks come as Tehran and Washington move toward formalizing a memorandum of understanding (MoU), with Iranian officials framing the deal as recognition of the country’s resilience and strategic weight.
Earlier on Thursday, the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States has been formally signed by the presidents of both countries through a digital ceremony, with the text finalized and the agreement officially in effect.
A preliminary meeting between representatives from the United States, Iran, Pakistan, Qatar, and other interested countries will take place on Friday, marking the first face-to-face negotiations since the landmark war-ending memorandum of understanding was finalized.
